Is It possible to use an Android phone to boot linux? I found my old phone laying around, have no uses for It and wanted to know If I could use It as a external hard drive or usb drive at boot?

You can install Linux with chroot, there are apps for that

If you're not using your phone for anything important you might as well give rooting a shot, should make for a fun side project provided it doesn't fuck up your phone. When you're done rooting then you can install an app that does what you're asking for.
