You don't need a tablet, they're no good for note taking, only for watching youtube and playing facebook games, which you shouldn't be doing in class. If you want a laptop, that's defensible. The thinkpad thread can help you with that. (a lot of people will recommend a thin-and-light laptop with good battery life. Personally I did that and always found myself wishing for something with a bigger screen and a nicer keyboard, whenever I was sitting in the lab working. Your mileage may vary.) If you are into vidya gaymen and don't want to give that up in college, don't get a gaming laptop. It's no benefit to your schoolwork, nor is it much good at gaming. Bring your desktop and play your games in your room. You don't need much in the way of a phone. You certainly have no need of a flagship.
all of this will probably entail spending a lot less money than you had hoped to spend on technology using a back-to-school excuse. Sorry.
