/g/, exactly how good is WINE on Linux? Will I be able to play most, if not all, of my Steam library that isn't Linux-polatform by using it?

Probably not, but you can google it to be sure.

WINE is pretty decent if you spend the time to configure it correctly and actually read documentation.

I've had zero success with it so far, but I'm on Arch so that's probably why.

Anyway, no, you can't play every game. There's a list of games on WineHQ that work on wine.

Most games I throw at it run OOTB.
Some games needs tweaking. I'd recommend disabling the Steam Overlay though when it's crashy.

You can expect most DX9 and lower games to work. DX10 and 11 is worked on atm and tested with Elite: Dangerous.

I have around 400 games in my Steam library and could run my most precious ones either native or fine. Saints Row 3, 4 and Just Cause 2 I didn't get running though for different reasons.

Well the database certainly shows a decent amount of information on whether or not an application will run.

Depends on how important DX above 9 is to you, WINE does not translate them to GL yet. There was some talk about native DX as well, but I am not sure how it stands.

use wine staging if you want the best experience
at least for me getting the latest fixes are more important than stability
