There is DIY molecular biology that is more along the lines of bio-"hacking," but it sucks. All the reagents and equipment are super-expensive and just about the most anyone's ever done is make bacteria fluorescent.
We're not gonna get 'true' biohacking until we get DNA based computers with kilobases per second of DNA read/write. Then you'd be able to do real biohacking shit, like download a dog or make THC producing yeast.
