>>51068693>>51067162 herei have about 5 years into the shithole that is IT.
for mouthbreathers like OP that cannot operate google and would like to know how a computer functions and all that other inane garbage the content is fine. the certification however has done shit all for me other than convincing some braindead HR monkey that i should be forwarded to the IT dept head for an interview. there are a number of certs out there that are a better bang for ones buck.
>>51067260you can still write the CISSP exam through the friends of ISC2 clause, which still holds weight when interviewing. avoid the SEC+ unless you need it for dod 8570.11 compliance.
>>51067233internships, alternately write a cert thats worth your time. here is a list of certs you should bother with: CCNA-RS or JNCIA, RHCE or LPIC, ITIL-F (everybody and their fucking brother wants this for new hires.), MCSA/MCSE, and CISSP or CEH or one of the dozens of GIAC certs if youre made of money.
once youre in the field trapped at a helpdesk then decide what you want to specialize in as far as the certs above goes. do so after you get experience firsthand in this career path, otherwise you will likely be miserable with your choice.
