Vbox (open source)
vmware player\workstation (can get working modern-ish 3d in a guest)
Hyper-v (better on server editions)
I go back and forth between all three depending on what I'm doing. Hyper-V for Windows Phone Emulator, Hyper-V for RemoteFX, Vbox for Android (genymotion), and Workstation to load a test workstation up that I can discard pretty easily.
Hyper-V doesn't fully patch USB devices and uses "USB redirection" that is the same thing as an RDP session. Windows Phone emulation is retarded, because it requires its own network adapter with no internet.
There's other solutions that better fit the usage, but depends on what you are going to run as a guest os and what you are type of applications are going to be ran.
