First amp I built used an 'lm386 to drive a 5 watt speaker for my guitar. Started to lose interest in electronics when I became involved in programming and took a special interest in DSP.
>>51067954Tubes are bad technology, you continually have to tune the surrounding technology to achieve the right sound, yes even the amps you buy from Marshall. Meanwhile, biasing only needs to be done once for silicon transistors.
Meanwhile, pure digital components (which most solid state amps are not) don't even need to be biased or tuned and can achieve a much wider range of sounds at much higher qualities.
