I have had this phone for a while and my biggest gripe is by far the battery
It lasts maybe 8 hours with minimal use ( answering a few texts throughout the day )
everything else about it is great, but I need one of those charge-thru battery cases

I had a Nex5 for a year. Build qual is a tad underwhelming for a flagship phone, but it was fast, had a great screen and as long as you still get decent batt life no real reason to upgrade.

Quality replacement parts are impossible to find, the glass is worse than the G2 and cracks easily, and it doesn't have a replaceable battery or microsd card slot.

The G3, for example, is a 2014 phone, still relevant in today's terms. One can be had for ~$240USD in like new condition.

That's wasn't me. The g3 can always stay updated with custom roms and cm, so it's still not a bad buy at that price.
I almost bought one for aud 200, but changed my mind since I saw no reason to move on from my nexus yet.

Its so nice being able to just pull your phone out of your pocket or pick it up and see notifications. No button pressing.

Ok Google works when its off even.

The fingerprint makes security hassle free. I hated using the pattern or password shit.

It's a 2013 phone. As for the "runs very smooth and performs amazingly" that only applies to phones made in 2013 for comparison. Comparing it to most any phone made in the past 6 months means it looks slow and dated which it actually is.

If you're happy with it, there's zero reason to upgrade to something more current, more powerful, and obviously more capable of getting future updates to Android itself.

The Nexus 5 was never a fantastic phone: it was midrange, with a shitty camera that never got better with software updates, and terrible battery life. The LG G2 which was the same hardware internally (with a better camera that can do RAW captures too) offered more, did more, and is still a superior device overall.

Now get the fuck out.

I bought a 6000mah power bank off eBay, it was rubbish, barely gave me one charge.
I took it apart and noticed it used a pair of 18650s, so I went out and cut the 3400mAh cells and replaced them.
Now it charges my phone 250%.

I switch between the N5 magnetic wireless charger, a Nokia standing charger, and a Nokia Fatboy. The standing Nokia gets the most use since it works so damn well. Magnetic charge is second for mounting on the wall.

Back sticks onto any flat surface with a drop of water and some pressure. Charger itself has magnets while N5 has 4 small metal discs on the back. One of the reasons I won't be upgrading to the new crappy Nexus 5X or 6P. Wireless charging is so nice. Slower charge is also better for the LiPo battery in the N5.
