How well do wireless headphones for tv's work?

After a couple years of living with my buddies I'm planning on moving out on my own, but odds are with the amount of money I make I'm gonna be getting a cheap apartment, and I have fairly bad hearing after an accident so I usually gotta listen to my tv fairly loudly, which I'm pretty sure would piss people off since I'm mainly active at night due to work and sleep during the day.

Back when I lived at home my father owned a wireless speaker system and every time the microwave was used at the same time someone was watching tv it killed the internet, until the audio was shut off.
