I installed ubuntu 12.04 lts on mac g5, but i want decent graphics acceleration, nouveau seems to shit all the time, i started compiling latest kernel 4.2.5 for better support, will it help?

if at all possible, get a radeon graphics card instead, the free/open source radeonsi driver is really solid

the main thing holding nouveau back atm is the lack of reclocking support, meaning the cards are left stuck in their "boot safe" low clock speeds, until they figure that out, newer kernels won't do much

also consider updating mesa, both will help the graphics stack a lot
