What GPU should fit in one of these cases? Dell Optiplex 7010 by the way.
Im looking at 4gb R9 380s but it may not even fit. A 390 wont fit at all for sure.

OP just open the fucking case and take a rough measurement. PCpartpicker has a way to sort cards by length.

There is actually one 390 that I think Powercolor makes that is in the 9.5" range, which is a pretty reasonable size.

The motherbord was designed for a GPU with just 1 fan. The second fan would go over the SATA cables but it would be so close you couldn't even use those bend cables.

Also I did not get a new PSU because mine had 500 watt which should be sufficient for the 760 I was going to get, but obviously it did not have an 8 pin connector and because of degration the 6 pin did not give enough power under heavy load.

Ended up having to buy a new motherboard and PSU, while if I just waited I could measure up everything and find out I had to get a mini ITX card like a 960 with just 1 fan.

A card like this is a smarter option in a pre-build pc.

These things are not designed to be used for gaming and have problems with airflow and GPU simply doesn't fit in.

And no I'm not on the Nvidia pay roll but if you were to buy a card now without having any knowledge what you're going to end up with I strongly suggest you something like a 750TI or 960 mini ITX.

Depends on so many things. They're fine for 1080p/60fps-high quality gaming and there won't be much difference with a 380.

But yes if you want 1440p 144hz ultra gaymen you should get a 390X or something.

For Fallout however a 960 won't be a problem at all given you won't run 4k texture packs.

The 380 uses about 40% more energy than a 960, with only 1 fan it will sound like a jet fighter taking off most probably.

Chances are, you'll be limited to the "mini-itx" cards, like the short R9 380, GTX960, GTX970, or Fury Nano. In all those cases, a 500W PSU will likely exceed your needs.

But as always, take your own measurements.

I've worked with their shit before. Their mobos are either BTX form factor or goofy batshit nonsense custom fit to their smaller cases. The 7010 comes in multiple sizes so make sure you know which variant it is.

Get any card you want, a true pc enthusiast won't be afraid to modify his computer in any way necessary.

If the card doesn't fit, cut through the hard disk cage.
How many hard drives you using? I'm going to assume one hdd+ one ssd.
Stick the hdd up in the 5.25 inch cage for DVDs, and cut away the rest of the cage.

Measure and cut holes for fans to provide better airflow. Make sure there's plenty of holes drilled under the fan too provide as close to the specified cfm as possible.
