Nobody knows for sure and there's too much speculation to wade through. It was undergoing a third part audit when it suddenly got pulled. From that point on, it's all speculation.

plus any machine that is powered on has the risk to have keys stolen through dma or any other ways so this bug is really irrelevant, truecrypt is most effecitve at stopping an attacker when the machine has been powered on or the drive is unmounted

the day you stop using truecrypt is when they found a vulnerability or issue that effects security in those non active use cases
