And lastly leddit guy said a reply back to me about the o2 and magni 2. Well Z says that they all could sound different because he doesn't have the o2+odac combo, he owns the other o2 standalone amp https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VFOd9p-6oZc

The O2 is warm Z says. I think I agree. But I'm still going to go with my opinions about both amp combos sounding different. Yes, I spoke to a leddit person. But nobody here has both o2 and magni 2. And I feel like the only one that keeps saying they're both different sounding.

While assembling my O2 Amp i managed to blow up the gain stage op-amp, since i didn't want to wait for replacement delivery from Ugandjikistan i went to the nearest electronics store, bought some of the op-amps they had available (NE5532P, TL082 and LM4558) and settled on the NE5532 in my build.

Now, i am very underwhelmed by the sound of my setup (ODAC revB -> O2 -> DT880 600 Ohm), as the sound quality seems to fall apart completely at higher volume levels, and gets especially bad on the High Gain setting. I know it should be impossible for a single op-amp in the signal chain to make a noticeable difference, but please, someone tell me that the whole "op-amp rolling" thing is placebo and that i'm a faggot for considering that the op-amp switch made the amp sound like crap.

These are only $250 on eBay. I'm really tempted to pick up a pair and see how they compare to my X2's. I've never gotten to listen to planars before, and all the Beyer/Senn shills saying the X2's are low-fidelity have me wondering what actual hi-fi headphones sound like.

I'll give it a 9/10 because it's the best headphone I've ever heard or owned. Downside is the stock coloration but it's relatively easy to EQ away and you are left with a headphone that is excellent in every aspect. Haven't felt any need to upgrade(downgrade) since I got these.

Sounds like your usual headphone tbh.
I've heard one when I bought it for my friend and kept it for a while before he picked it up. It has bass and clear mids, overall pretty balanced. I still prefer my HE-4 a lot because of dem highs though.
But as >>51079627 said, stock velour pads are IMO shit. The pleather is alright. But if you could make do with stock like my friend, then so be it.

Pretty much everything: the design is superb and the attention to detail is astonishing (small things, but you know, it's good to see them); materials are excellent, as the overall build quality; even the cable is a high quality one. The comfort is awesome: I can wear them for many hours straight without fatigue, thanks to the great combination of big soft cushiony earpads and large breathable headband. Sound wise they happen to be the kind of signature I like, and the spaciousness of the soundstage is impressive.

Just minor complaints: since the cable is sleeved, if it rubs on my shoulder it creates a bit of noise. Since I have a small head, the headband's spring doesn't always tension enough to completely support the weight of the headphones; speaking of which, they're quite heavy, because of the materials used.

>What I like
Primarily the design: they look so fucking good I'd wear them just to have them on my head. Build quality is very good too: the earpads are super soft and in real leather, as the headband. They're very lightweight, and can fold, which makes them very portable. For a closed headphone they sound more spacious than I thought. I like how refined the sound is (compared to the X2), and the isolation is exceptionally good too, in both directions (they don't leak sound at all). The packaging feels premium, much more premium than the X2, and the unboxing was very pleasant; I like they included both a bag and a semi-rigid pouch; they're redundant, but it's good to have them both.
>What I don't like
They're Sennheiser. Which implies... Cost: they're awfully overpriced. They're good, but not Fidelio good. The shell of the earpieces are made of plastic, which I suppose is functional to the design (both in terms of look and weight), but it feels cheap. Also, the cable is quite shitty, and uses a proprietary connector; they didn't even included a second cable... Typical Sennheiser. As I said the packaging was very good, but on a second thought it's a complete waste of money. The sound signature is not of my taste as the Fidelio, but again I must say they do not sound bad.

I bought these perfectly knowing that I was going to be ripped off by Sennheiser, but I couldn't resist their sex appeal. They fulfill their task perfectly as an out-of-your-mom's-basement headphones, and sound just right for their price, and that's it. Still, they're good headphones.

Already had other cans. I sold the M50Xs and never got a replacement for what they offered. It's just open headphones for home use and IEMs when traveling now. You can add padding to the sides to avoid putting weight on top of your head or do a makeshift suspension headband. I did that to my Hifimans.

Lesson learned though. I'll never purchase headphones with poor comfort anymore.

I've got decent speakers, nothing incredible, but you'd have to drop a couple thousand, and a ton of space, to get speakers that can match e-stats in everything but those lows.

It also has the advantage of not getting picked up by my mic, so I can play loud on voice chat.

Subwoofer blends in just like it would with speakers.

A sub is already designed to be used with a different audio source, just headphones rather than speakers here.

E-stats are really open, to the point where putting them on doesn't reduce outside noise at all.

Because subwoofers have enough power that you can physically feel it, like this.

When I said low end, I meant the overall, how bass sounds. I was incorrect to refer to it as low end, I should have just stuck to bass overall.
Not that it technically can can reproduce all of it.
Anyway open headphones can't give you the impact and feel that a sub can.
That's why I use both.

I own FAD Hope VI, it's a very nice headphone with considerably wide sound stage for a closed back. It's quite bright so you will need warmer source. The earpads are kinda shit, luckily they replaced it with a better pair that is actually sewed not glued. It is very detailed and have just enough amount of bass but the thing is, it weighs quite a lot.

There's literally no information present at those frequencies anyway on most stuff I listen and even if there is, it's masked away by rest of the frequency response spectrum. I saw some people post a few threads back that you don't need an AMP for headphones such as the HD600/650 and plugging it into your phone or onboard PC should be more than enough.

As a HD600 owner I'd want to shortly address this misinformation. A common misconception about amps is that if it gets loud enough, it's properly powered. The idea is false because a headphone can still be loud when underpowered - because it takes a LOT more power to reproduce bass and treble, so you can have deafening midrange but the bass doesn't reach deep and treble as piercing because the power isn't there. My onboard soundcard on my PC drives the HD600 louder than I want to go, but the bass/treble is underpowered.

How did you come up with 1.2kHz? True, I didn't use a predetermined reference point but listening through sine sweep over and over again gives you a good idea of equal loudness. Once I was done with the mids those essentially became the reference for the high frequencies' EQ.

It matches DF target better than IF's ID. It isn't any surprising though. The target curves are not made up out of thin air.

The graph goes through -5 dB at around 1.2 kHz. Assuming you use a preamp setting of -5 dB, 1.2 kHz would be your reference point.

Yes that's about right. Just goes to show that if you bother spending some time with the sweeps and parametric equalizer, the end result does pretty closely match measured performance and that DF target is very good target for neutrality. Of course there might be individual differences in perceived loudness in the high frequencies where none of the target curves aren't accurate anymore. There is still some peaking past 10kHz but pretty minor compared to what I already fixed with the EQ. I might go back to perfect it one day but it's already heaps better than stock response and I'm quite satisfied with it.

In short, impedance just tells how much the voice coil resists current but doesn't tell anything about how much power you actually need for the headphones to be loud enough, in other words the sensitivity. HD 558s are more sensitive than the X2.

I think it all started with one person who bought the cans, he realized the mistake he made, but he couldn't come to terms with the fact that he made a bad purchase, cue the post purchase rationalization, he fought to convince everybody that a lack of healthy bass is actually a good thing, and that anybody who desires adequate bass is a person of unrefined nature.

The next person down the lines buys into the hype, and the cycle repeats exponentially.

It wasn't until i swap up the HD600 for $250 and a O2 amp that i realized the flaws on the X2. Well it's nice to have it in the collection and pretty

actually these can be plugged in just fine, and the sound is much better than the bose, but in a bus/train/plane the noise would just get in the way of the music a lot more.

Just a quick correction on that post: the isolation is exceptionally good up to a point, because today on the bus they let more low frequency pass through than I was expecting, but I guess it's also because I wear glasses and I have a beard that break the sealing.

If you want isolation, the only good solution is an earphone. ANC is a gimmick, not because it doesn't work, but because it cost a hell lot more than it's worth, and it's limited to the battery's life.

Now the MDR-1RBTs seem to have a solid ~30hs of battery life (and can be plugged even with a dead battery), they're comfy af and I dig the looks too.

If you are using your HP mainly at home just go for the Sony.
If you need portability go with the M40X because of the detachable cable.

I personally like the Sony more because it has less clamp force.

m40x, hsr1000/pro80, CAL. the xpt100 is a bit on the bright side of neutral, you're right. m40x is a bit on the bass side of neutral. the pro80 and CAL are distinctly warm/bassy. none have fatiguing highs. if you can afford them, you would also like the v-moda m80 and xs, as well as the momentum, but they're on-ear. the over ear momentum is almost $200.
