Hey, /g/. I have an Athlon X4 760K with a Cooler Master 212 Evo on it (and properly-applied thermal paste). And yet, it runs hot as shit. It's in a Corsair 200R case, and it's still pretty spacious in there.
It generally idles at about 50-60C. It tends to run at 65-75C when I'm doing light-to-moderate shit like browsing the web or watching something in 1080p.
I didn't build this computer with gaming in mind, so I wasn't expecting anything special, even in terms of temperatures. But playing basically anything, no matter how non-demanding, jacks this shit up to like 80-85C.
At full CPU usage, e.g. converting video or some shit, it's running at 85-90C, Jesus fuck. I've re-seated the heat sink and reapplied the thermal paste (Arctic Silver IIRC) twice now, to no effect.
I don't know what else there is to be done. Does this chip just always run with the heat of a dying sun? Could it just be mine, should I RMA it?
