In graphics rendering, there are some different techniques to get your output picture, like ray tracing. I've always thought one such technique was to retrieve all textures and the vertices they're mapped to, sort them by z-order, transform each texture in 2d (basically apply perspective to the texture according to its vertices) and then stack it all up. Is that an existing technique or is it something I made up? I'm not tech-illiterate but I've no experience with graphics and I certainly don't know (or even care about) most of the jargon. I use plenty of design patterns in my code too but don't ask me to point them out or tell their names or anything either, you know?
