I've got one of these things.

Sometimes when I pick it up off the mousepad and set it back down, it stops registering mouse movements for a few seconds before working again.

Anyone know why this happens?

I had same issue with my entry level logitech mouse. It was a software issue since it didnt happen on linux. IIRC has something to do with power saving settings.
