I got an error and am now in the recovery menu.

it gives me:
>reboot system now
>apply update from ADB
>wipe data/factory reset
>wipe cache partition
>reboot to bootloader
>power down
>view recovery logs
>apply update from sdcard

What do?

this update only contains security fixes
you can apply these yourself using xposed modules, no need to update

one of two things will happen
1: you installed a custom recovery so when it reboots to install it nothing happens
2: you have the stock recovery and it will just delete root
