What do you guys thing about Lumia 930, and win 8.1 in general?
I finally need a smartphone, and it seems it fits my needs - decent pictures, quite fast and enough memory to be used as an mp3 player. Also cheaper than similar android phones (at least sony and samsung ones).
Thoughts?

Had the 925. The constant "Resuming..." screens made me go back to Android. Unfortunately I listened to /g/ and got a Zenfone 2. The bloatware along with numerous other problems made me long for Windows Phone again. So I sold the Zenfone and got a 640. It was great at first, but then I realized all the apps I was missing out on. The "Resuming..." screens were mostly gone, but apps would load from the beginning and be unresponsive for ages while they returned to the spot you were at.

930 and 950 actually come with a decent amount of RAM so they'd probably be better, although I think it's a "feature" of the OS to tombstone apps quickly. Even if they work perfectly, the apps you run either don't exist, or are much poorer quality than you'd find on Android or iOS. Even many of the built in apps from Microsoft are shit, like Maps. Microsoft apps are often better on other platforms.

Another issue with the 930 is that it doesn't support North American LTE bands, so you'll mostly be stuck on 3G unless you live in Australia or Europe.

i will say the zenfone has gotten a bit better with all the weird smaller quirks as updates have come out (they update regularly since the phone is so new), but the bloatware is definitely inexcusable

I've got one. Typing on it now. It gets the job done. Camera was hot shit before the g4 and s6 came out. Lack of apps is annoying but the basics are there. The game breaker is that notifications for whatsapp and telegram are very spotty. Whatsapp sometimes only registering a notification once you open the app. Its shit that android 2.3 had figured out.

I live in EU, so LTE is not an issue. I'm not very interested in having many apps on it, just the basic ones, so absurd specs are not needed, thats why 930 instead of waiting for 950.
I need to take decent pics for stuff I want to sell and use it as an mp3 player. Occasionally maps will come in handy, but not too often.

been with WP and iPhone and they`re both toys and exercise in dealing with frustration. Android actually feels like a portable desktop, as much as I hate both linux and google, I`ll admit this much

but who cares, I`m writing this to a paid MS marketer anyways. Been warming up for WP10 phones shilling eh?

But no way in hell would I buy one now. The app ecosystem is a ghost town. It failed to take off, which is a shame, but that's life.

I don`t even think about installing more apps than fb, maps and some online auction shit.
Also, I don`t think I'd be updating to win10, as long as 8.1 works smooth.

You say that now. You'll probably change your mind once you see what you can do. Not having snapchat is a serious hindrance to my social life.

Seriously, get a cheap android. Even a Huawei is better than a Lumia.

I think that's the case for all the Microsoft apps now. They have left 8.1 to rot for the past year. It pisses me off. iOS and android have better versions of the Microsoft apps than windows phone.

I don't have that much of a social life anyway. I'd get a samsung or a sony since they're better built, but more expensive. Lumias have decent quality (anecdotal evidence I guess) and are cheaper. All Huawei and HTC users say that they are good phones, but not as durable which is important to me.

Second hand is out of the question, no invoice, no phone. I've toyed with Xcover 3 and kinda liked it though. Was my number one choice, but not much memory, and the micro sd worked...funky. Otherwise, very good phone.
