don't expect intel chips to drop more than 10-15% until deprecation.

x86-64 chips are so mature that even chips from 5 years ago are holding their value because the chips aren't gaining the leaps and bounds of performance they used to have where you couldn't give away a chip from 3 years ago in say, 2007.

intel should be offering legit 6 core 4ghz cpu's but they don't.

Yeah, you are probably better off getting an FX. AMD is the better bang for buck if you can handle the heating and power requirements, though some of the FX 8-core can consume up to 95W, so it's not going to heat much either.

i5 6600k = 250$

Why are you getting old hardware when the price difference is so little? The same applies to LGA 1151/1150 mobos and DDR4/DDR3 ram.

you are literally saving less than 50$ with all the three components combined and gimping your PC

No, but I don't think you mentioned that you already had a Z97 mobo.

You can find cheap Z170 mobos from good brands like MSI and Asus for around 120$-140$.

Assuming you're playing video games, lack of DDR4 is a non-issue.

One should get the cheaper option. Since the perfomance is <5% the same.
If you have more money to spend just go for X99.

I'm a Britbong so the i5 6600k goes for abit 220 compared to the i5 4590k which is 167.

The 6600k IS better than 4690k, albeit by not a lot. Though the price difference is only 10$.

DDR4 and DDR3 are similarly priced nowadays as well. Yes, performance is not that different, but neither is the cost. Yet one is the newer and more future proof product, and the other is outdated.

If you compare the budget z170 mobos with premium z97 mobos, then yes. But otherwise, they are fairly similar with the z170 having a few extra features such as m.2 slots plus supports new hardware.
