I have Banana Pi.

If I desolder the microphone on it and solder few meters long extension cables between mic and board, is there any reason why it wouldn't work?

What is the resistance of the wire length? What is the voltage?

Answer those questions and do the v=i*r calculation.

electret mic has polarity, check it.
or if u dumb, reverse the ground and signal wires.
