9/10 times gimp can do as much as Photoshop. But you will always come across something that only Photoshop can do when you only have gimp.

Inkscape is garbage compared to Illustrator, and shows no sign of becoming better.

InDesign really doesn't have a competitor.

Dreamweaver is shit, use Notepad++.

Its a little bit gaudy.

The same applies to the misuse of logos. You have the responsibility to ensure that the logo isn't used wrong, for your own good and for the good of the company you work for, and because of that, you have to make a style guide. Whoever fails to understand such an elementary thing has no right to call themselves a graphic designer.
