Assuming this isn't bait, most designers use Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign for work. But if you want to get into GD, you should learn the basics of design theory before you jump into software.

To be honest I use Photoshop, and Corel Painter.

Corel is great for beginners.

Me and most everyone I know that works in design started by just fucking around in photoshop making absolute shit. It doesn't matter what order you learn things. I'd recommend balancing your tinkering with theory, but don't be dissuaded from fucking around.
