My boss just sent me this logo and told me to improve it.

I think I'm fucked, (I'm not even a designer, I'm just the IT guy.)

The logo is supposed to be represent a hourglass, the letter S (startup name is infinitys) and infinity.

What the hell.
Do you guys think its possible to improve this? Or should I start from scratch?
Apparently my boss comissioned a team of artists to create this.
