So I go to this technical high school and my shop is changing their name from Advertising Art and Design to Commercial Art (that was the name of the shop prior to being renamed to AAD) and I decided to make the new logo for Commercial Art. My shop teacher likes it and thinks the design is clever but maybe I could add something and make it a little less simplistic. Feedback is appreciated.

I changed the spacing a little bit to more match the font I was using for this (Helvetica Neue). Now the "C" stands out slightly better.

Think more like a typographer when it comes to balancing elements visually.

The bowl of the stem was shortened horizontally to center itself more naturally over the lobe below it.

Since C is the first element in an initialism, it gets to be the starkest color, black. The stem is reflex blue C, which has just close enough of a value to not look out of place, and also it's a color every print shop has premixed so it often costs less to use.

Is it boring? Slightly, and that's on purpose. You want every student who looks at it to think "that's functional, sure, but I could do better" and then let them pit their creativity against it. In the process they'll start to understand why some things are rules.

Okay. It's a real solid logo. It works in any colour(s), that's good. It's really nice and simple (keep it that way, trust me). That's good.

One thing you have to consider is that it looks like an earthworm trying to stick its invisible dick inside a trash can.

But you know... swings and roundabouts.
