How I do this?
I'm downloading AutoCAD as I type
I have Photoshop, I have an image saved as a jpeg and tiff with thransparancy.

Guess you can tell i'm new to this but I have use of a Trumpf laser and free metal...
Any help/advice would be great.

There's no way to convert raster to vector. Just isn't how it works unfortunately.

You have to trace it by hand and make your own vector. If you can show the image in AutoCAD, then you can trace it. No real way for a computer to do it for you.

I thought this may be true, but I found Autocad raster to vector on the sea bearing men cove website and should have that in a few minutes also, will update with good news everyone, or disappointment later.

you can automatically "live trace" any raster image in illustrator, but it's mostly pointless because will look like garbage unless it's something like a simple 2 color line drawing and even then it needs to be in very high quality for precise tracing. it's based on limited amount of colors so it will completely disregard gradients.

many amateurs think live trace is a good way to give an "illustrative" look to photographs, but it always looks like a cheap digital filter which doesn't prioritize the most important details of the image.

tl;tr forget about auto-tracing solutions

the only correct way to do in this case is to manually re-draw your image in vector format in illustrator. it will take forever and requires good skill with illustrator's mesh tool and accuracy with pen tool. good luck.

I never explain myself to well I admit.

Yes it will be a simple 2D template design (pic related) this will be my first test piece. My next piece will be a coffee table leg 500 x 30 x 5mm with a pattern/design cut out of the leg.

Precision is not key in any of my work, this Mad Max logo, i will be taking a angle grinder to it and kicking it around the floor and dousing parts in nitric acid, to the amount of point in the vector aint an issue (did I use the correct words and terminology?).

Pic is just an rough idea, I've cleaned it up a lot since this.
