There was a recent patch that added a playable sex party at the back of the porn shop in the capital and a quest to find and rescue some girl that is kept there as a slave by the church. The quest is stil incomplete, however.
The new quest is also translated already, so it's not abandoned.

From what I remember, the first few releases of VH were during 2008 and featured a more basic/ugly version of Nanako and a very small area to move around. Somewhere along the lines the devs had a disagreement over content with one guy who split off and is now working on the Katteban/Selfish version of VH which features more graphic content (namely guro), an even younger looking Serena and some different scenes.

The original dev(s) stuck around until Fall 2012, where they basically said "yep, uh...that'll be all" and left it entirely to the community. Some English speaking content creators were on /vg/ for a while but some people badmouthed them until they fucked off to Japanese dev boards.

Translations are still being done by a few people who were also in the /vg/ threads (I think it's over 90% at this point) and content IS periodically being added through the patches but a lot of people are afraid to do anything because of how disjointed, disorganized and full of spaghetti it all is.

So basically, you STILL can't reach the end of Nanako's journey to the credits screen or find Serena's damn heirloom after 8-ish years of development.

And that's what I can remember of VH.

Last I played the Katteban version a few months ago it still featured some older Tilesets and map navigation (most apparent while walking around the Capital area). Either version can be played through without debug, but you can't actually "beat" them due to incompleteness.

Using the debug tool to have some fun and see what you can do is probably the most preferred way to do things. It helps circumvent grinding, certain bugs and gets you to quest-related lewd faster if you tire of the generic game-overs and rapes.

All versions of VH are wonkily coded and more or less as buggy as one another, Katteban just has all the benefits (and detriments) of not depending on an unorganized mess of contributors but instead a single person.

[spoiler:lit]Looking back at the regular game, it starting off with Nanako having some pretty simple goals dependent on player choice was probably a bit of prophesy; it's far easier to meet those goals than it is to wait forever[/spoiler:lit]

...and the happy ending with Rin is still the best ending.

I think you have to have sex with Rin in the bed at night using one of the viagra combinations (you/her/both) for it to trigger.

The one that gave me problems was her masturbating on the 2F toilet but it seemed that one viagra combination for fucking Rin in her office was sufficient to unlock just about all the scenes bar the last in a timely manner.

The main development/talk is in /vg/, VH used to have it's own general but now it's under the 2dhgg. Just search for Violated Heroine.

And yeah, development had picked up again. Two releases 09-09-2015. And quite a few before that. I think we're over the hump of like...was it last year? Or earlier this year.

Both. And new art is added too, quite often. It's funny, there's actually a lot more art assets than what is merely in the game, it's just some of it hasn't been coded in. I'm quite sure I saw like a year or two ago, the bondage harness for Serena in the assets directory somewhere, even though she can't wear it yet in the game.

A patch improving the innkeeper route was uploaded 9/26.

Seems like the translation is going down the final stretch. There's only two major areas that need translation left, the Orc Kingdom, and Eisen, there's a translator working on each area, and we just passed 91% of total lines completed.

Stallion seems to be in deep development mode, he redid the h-animation scheme so that heroine and sex partner are separate entities, greatly simplifying sprite creation. He still hangs around the developer forum, so I think he's still working on things.

Katteban has amazing sprite art. If you want to see what his sprite art inspired, lookup danlick on exhentai.

Basically I think these are some of the Katteban scenes:
Flashback gangrape of Ashley by Bandits (New sprite work, DP and slight animation)
Slave auction, meat doll sprite work for Serena
Slime end sprite work for Serena
DP animation work for Serena
Mino on Serena (Large Penetration)
Ashley with Hair down work
Stockades gangrape badend if lose to Nemesis with new sprite work. Slightly animated (spirtroast, anal, vaginal, different size, randomized sex work) (Serena, Nanako, Erika)

And some other unused sprite work.

He seems significantly darker than mainline VH, and its sad they couldnt work together consider how superior his sprite work is.

Looking forward to what he has in store for Ashley.

Nanako, being the main heroine, has about 10x more content than Ashley.
I'd say she has 3x more content than Serena does.

There's a spreadsheet in the dev folders that shows event compatibility, and Nanako leads the way.

GOR=Game Over Rape: Basically, losing gets you a sex scene that leads to a game over, though not always the last part (usually if it doesn't lead to a game over it's just called Rape on Loss, but eh).

BF=Battle Fuck: Usually a specific genre of H-RPGs where all conditional commands are replaced with sex acts instead.

Eisen with its "Health Delivery" prostitution minigame, there's a dozen maps or so.

The Orc Kingdom has about a dozen maps left too, including a 2000 line monster.

There's about 4 miscellaneous maps left as well. The queues are indicated on the VH Assembla.

You don't need any special requirements. Maybe your version is too old and just doesn't have that feature. There's an exclamation mark if you go to the well with Serena at night.

Doesn't work with Nanako, afaik.

I've played a number of them because of VH, most of them being English made. Sadly means most of them are single teamed and die off.

I highly recommend Despair Labyrinth. It's discontinued and a lot smaller, but there's sexual writing and 3-D art the designer made himself. The dialogue changes based on high or low purity.

About 60%, because that is what it had in common with Vanilla VH at the time of translation creation a year or so ago. There are a few scenes that have been translated in addition to the base: Serena being auctioned off as a slave, Serena loses to the Minotaur as a virgin, and Serena loses to the Slime King in the Capital sewers.

I may pick up translating Katteban more frequently in the future when Vanilla is complete.

You know he did an Ashley DP scene that is partially animated, stockades sex with Nanako, Serena, and Erika that is animated (and randomized), Minotaur sex with serena, that shows extreme penetration, and in general is much more extreme (and really well done sprite work) than recent VH efforts. Especially that fucking plant girl, what is the point of that, terrible looking character.

1. Do the AppLocale crap
2. Make sure you actually have rpgmaker 2000 (it's not hard to find)
3. Make sure the path to the file doesn't have any spaces or weird symbols (I.e. "Totally not Anon's porn" could mess it up, but "not_porn" should be fine)
