>>1246056>>1246055Despite all this understanding of how hurtful statements can be and maybe to not get offended so easily, they've still got baggage like crazy and you're going to trigger all of it simply because you're not Deaf. And they'll tell you about it. Constantly.
For example, the worst of it will manifest as incessant snooping and accusations. They're gonna think you're cheating all the time. Being unable to hear, many d/Deaf feel like they're always missing something. Because you're part of that world they can never join and you're a near-constant presence in their life, you're gonna catch the flack for this resentment in the form of snooping on your phone and internet use and accusations of infidelity. It's inevitable.
And as for being used: phonecalls, doctor's appointments, customer-fucking-service complaints and everything else imaginable. Shit, I have one CODA (Child of Deaf Adults) friend who, growing up, was asked to interpret television for her mum and dad daily because speech-to-text technology back then was complete shit. Basically, any sort of thing where getting an interpreter would either be embarrassing (doctor's appointments), impractical (customer service complaints, TV), indelicate (personal phonecalls) or impossible due to lack of time to book one (emergency situations, either real or imagined), you're gonna be it. And that's if you're lucky. If not, you're gonna be doing all of it, all the time. Pain in the fucking dickhole.
>>1222827And speaking of dickholes: I said that I've noticed no size difference. This isn't exactly true. The two biggest I've seen were deaf exes of mine. Now, just as Waardenburg and Usher's syndromes cause both deafness and other physical abnormalities, there might be something to some forms of deafness that cause huge cocks, kinda like how some forms of trisomy can cause changes in genital size. It's possible, is all I'm saying, not that it's true. I don't know. I'm a linguist, not a geneticist.
