And as I said for pricing, its based on what you are willing to work for and what people are willing to pay. Just pick a number and adjust based on demand and your availability. If you only have enough time for 2 pics a month, all you need to do is find the price where you get about that much work.
People around here tend not to have a lot of money to throw around, and as you said, outside of /v/ and /co/, you aren't SUPER well known. But you will still have price points where you can make money, and you will get more known if you make sites and put work on them.
Your goal is just to make enough for a monitor, not make a living, so you don't need to be famous.
Lots of artists just open commissions when they need some extra money, and close them after. Don't need to make it a full time job.
