Krita, SAI or Clip Studio?

Do they correspond to different needs or is Clip Studio better overall?

Also, any way to get this lineart pencil?

CSP is easily the best for actual professional grade illustration work. It has tools focused on what you actually do when illustrating and does it all well from the lineart onward. I like it more than photoshop in that regard, which never felt designed for what most people do with it. Sai feels like a toy that's only slightly better than mspaint and I think much of its use is predicate to being a trendy meme for weebs. For the money, CSP is much better.

I haven't used krita, but I don't like the way faggots that shill it talk compared to the less positive reviews.

I didn't say it was, just that it feels that way. It's very dated, isn't focused and doesn't excel at anything. The only thing worthwhile is the stabilizer and if you have such a toaster that you can't run anything else, you have bigger problems to worry about.

It feels like a toy because it doesn't have a lot of features and tools you pretty much need to do anything and it takes twice the work for the same result compared to other programs. CSP's pencil tool alone blows sai out of the water and that's not even getting into how easy they made vectors. It's not good for the price and if you aren't paying for it, why wouldn't you get something better? I do like it more than PS, but that's only because PS is a fucking chore.

Even Sai offers more customization and variability in terms of what its brushes are capable of. Sai's interface also feels less cluttered and far more intuitive.

Photoshop does everything better than CSP, and renders all of those extra bells and whistles completely irrelevant.

Who paid you by the way?

I'm using it and I am not impressed. There's nothing here that I couldn't do in either photoshop or sai. It's like the best of both worlds, but not good enough to warrant replacing either.

OP here, just wanted to thank the anon who posted the brushes for CSP and the link for the G-Lasspen (found a DL for the original in Pixiv) and IT'S PERFECT. It's the pen I've been looking for a long time.

You know what made me enjoy drawing in SAI as opposed to PS? This thing. I just found that Manga studio has it too. Everyone should know to set it to 0. Just throwing it out there, because it makes a huge difference in drawing experience.

It's not on a menu as far as I know.

But if you have the brush tool selected holding down E (Or whatever shortcut you have for the eraser) will switch to that tool. Then you simply let go when you want to change back. If you simply tap it, it will change to the new tool.

i think you misunderstood me. i know that PS can switch tools temporarily by holding a button, but you can't set it to 0, so that you don't accidentally switch to that tool completely (when you don't touch the tablet), forcing you to go back to your previous tool manually. You can completely eliminate that fuckup by setting it in manga studio preferences.

yeah i don't want that.
for example: drawing with my brush tool, hold stylus button to erase (cause i set it to 'e'), then there's a moment when i change my mind and decided not to erase, but already pressed the button, i let go of it and now i want to keep on drawing but it's already on eraser now and i have to press 'b'. it completely destroys the flow of the process.

I don't understand the accidently switch completely to that tool but that sounds like a cool feature.

I'm very shortcut heavy so I don't notice it. Put it up on Adobes forums for suggestions even if they do not like digital painters maybe there is hope.

But use Krita only if you're going to run it on top of a Linux distro (doesn't have to be a KDE one), that way it runs much better, more predictably with a more polished UI experience compared to Windows and Mac, and out of all painting programs out there it is among the most actively developed and has the most potential, on top of being free. Otherwise just go with SAI, but use Photoshop instead if you can help it, as it's objectively superior.

You could do both in CSP and save yourself the 20 seconds it takes to save, open PS and load the document there. But in my opinion CSP isn't as fast, reliable and smooth at linework as SAI, nor as powerful, versatile and customizable for painting purposes as PS.

Nigga, SAI is the babby tier of lineart, it's got the best stabilizer, the smoothest brush strokes, the best pressure sensitivity and the most easy to use opacity/flow/bending sliders.
