Not posting for critiques, though they are welcome. I just want to talk about how much of a struggle it can be pursuing art as a career. Art is not a normal profession.
This isn't a field where you can go to school, come out with a degree, and get a job. It's very much up to you to find a way to make a living doing this. If you want to actually be successful, and not just do creepy furry porn commissions on DeviantArt for $15 a piece, it requires an inordinate amount of willpower and self-determination.
Be prepared to hurt and/or anger everyone close to you. They won't understand. While you're not working at your shitty job, you need to be drawing. To them, not being at work means it's your free time, and they'll view not hanging out with them as you blowing them off. Significant others, family, friends... all will feel neglected. You may lose people, which is sad, but you're never going to happy unless you make it. Every second you spend wasting time at a bar with a friend pushes your goals further away.
Accept that there will be ridicule. Not in your face, but people will smile with nod while their eyes say, "He's wasting his time." You can't blame them. The average person has never heard of a "concept artist". My mom and friends never come out and say they doubt me, but they do always say things like "Hey, have you ever though of working in the medical field?" It used to bother me, but they don't mean any harm. They're just concerned about my future. Though it is amusing that people are surrounded by art and design constantly, and have no idea how it gets made, or that people get paid to create it. Ah well.
So I thought that if I could do exaggerated faces, I can improve drawing faces in general. What does /ic/ think? A lot of my inspiration draws from One Piece, where there's lots of exaggerated faces going on about.
Hey /ic/ one of the challenges I face when trying to do some work is getting reference material, so I figured I'd throw this thread together.
Basically how this works; you post a request for a reference picture and other anons give you a picture of himself/ herself. I'd be willing to do some poses and shit to get stuff started, you can also "apply" as a "model." If you like, post some basic info.
>slim body, some muscle tones >won't post nudes >will probably not post face >can do zoomed body parts & facial parts.
