>>2268119Didn't you say your fundamentals were solid? Those figures are drawn like shit.
You also spilled grey outside of them, probably used a big brush.
Either you use smaller brushes, layers, or erase the excess after.
Those outlines are just ugly, but regardless I'd get used to rendering objects without the lines.
Shading itself is weak, you need to push the darks. Also, your shading does not follow the form. I believe the cylinder should have more vertical tones.
Is the light source in the middle of the 3 objects? Because then the sphere is shaded completely wrong, including cast shadow's direction.
Also, the light source looks to be very close according to your current object shading, the shadows should be warped way more than they are.
Also for now, I wouldn't go super smooth in the blending, just a few strokes will be more efficient to get you started - smudging is just a time consuming task that you can do on proper paintings later on.
Anyway, after you're content with those shapes, I'd try some mechanical design, with flat angled surfaces. That will teach you about using big soft brush then erasing the excess (there is a good ctrl paint video, I believe it's one of the first 3-4 basic videos of digital coloring)
After following that video and looking at the next one for the example (some airplane or helicopter), try creating some patterns like scales, giving it a 3d look.
Everything else really is using tools for eyecandy, especially for backgrounds/environments, that really can't be explained, watch tutorials for those and experiment.
