Wondering if anyone here who has dealt with severe depression and is also at the level of frequent commissions/freelance work. How do you keep going through a slump? I thought I had it under control, but my most recent depressive phase completely demolished my schedule and I'm slowly building back up to where I was at. Hard to power through total apathy/pessimisim, and doing freelance work seems more daunting since there is no promise of stability in the future.

>>2266190 I've dealt on and off with depression and have been making a living off art for a little while too. Bad periods can interfere with work and permanently ruin relationships with clients (I've had this happen).
The only thing that I've found seems to work is going to regular therapy sessions. I've been going weekly for nearly a year and it seems to have made some differences and kept me from fully falling into it.

I don't have depression singularly but it's what gets in the way the most. Some kindof treatment (therapy/ counselling) works the best to help the overall feeling of depression. Currently I don't take meds or attend therapy due to monetary reasons, so instead I force myself into a schedule even when I don't feel like it. Enforcing a sleep schedule, exercising regularly and making sure to take care of myself (eating, bathing, taking breaks)when I can barely move has helped overall but what has helped the most was enforcing a work schedule, whether I felt it or not. Like for example everyday at noon you sit down and art, or study art materials. Sooner or later it becomes a question of habit more than motivation. Also it's good to take a look at what makes you feel depressive or apathetic specifically when it comes to your art work. Pick those reasons apart, compartmentalize them and break them. Like a mental exercise. What breaks you down in your head is the same tool you can use to build yourself up. Of course, depression is not something that you can just drop at a seconds notice, but you can find ways around it.

I think it depends on the severity of the moodswings and what causes them
so I've dealt with the ups and downs and the extreme downs. When it starts happening I try to take a step back relax, go on walks ect ect. Try to amp myself up and realize it will pass. Comes and goes you just gotta work around it.

>>2266229 Essentially what breaks me down is feeling completely clueless and losing all confidence in my work (
http://mooffz.tumblr.com/ ) and then mostly being like "why am i working on this shit when I could just get a social work degree and help people" etc. my mind just starts wandering and any reward disapears for a bit. And then a few weeks later I'll feel like im back in the groove and whatnot.

Joe Bradley - Sheets with a bit of poo on them

>>2261726 Anti-Psychiatry is more to blame for Joe Bradley's high prices than money laundering. He is clearly suffering from some form of schizophrenia/thought-disorder. He chain smokes (60 some percent of schizophrenics chain smoke) and always looks agitated (abnormal amount of dopamine due to immuno-deficient inflammation results in constant agitation and obviously explains the high quantity and low quality of his output). The Leftist establishment denies the existence of these illnesses and will do anything to support artists like Joe Bradley. The cognitive dissonance of being able to identify and support the mentally ill while also denying the existence of mental illness is beyond me. Regardless, look at his patrons, they read from the Frankfurt school and apologize for Communist atrocities.

Given te prompt of humanizing an animal. The fact that the art piece holds small expression based depth. Maybe go take the abstract/ post modern art route and make it relate to PETA. And by that i mean, wrap it up in duct tape thus making it look like it's in bondage and dominated. There you go you just rubbed those liberal's ego a little bit.

>>2265322 If you're going to start over again maybe consider sketching it a few times from different perspectives. The overhead thing might just be highlighting the flaws. If you haven't been looking at references I'd do that too, just to get a better feel for the anatomy of the legs even. This is probably more a taste thing but I'd consider making it a child too, like a child's face on a faun.

Before you call me a manchild... ah fuck it you will, anyway. Basically, I want to be in the art department that's working on a game. It's the tightest shit ever. My dream. I currently live in Canada and my final destination is California one day, since that's a utopia for game development. How can I get my foot in the door besides working on my art skills (which I already am)?

I have a webcomic where I'm stuck scanning very rough works from sketchbooks, but I attempt to offer something relevent to the Canon in each strip, whether its imagry, some info about the world,or insight into a character's head. And I have a concept for a tie in computer game too: Cassandras' House(pic related). And hopefully I'll generate enough content for a team of game designers to utilize. The current story is full of Art Deco Rabbit Decor, and its artistically challanging to run with the theme. Someday I'll get back to more repackagable stuff, but I'm determined to bring closure to the story, and there's enough Stuff for a movie, but I still have yet to finish the introductory graphic novel. Too busy chasing dollars, too occupied denying my dreams.

Hey guys! I work as a graphic designer and everyone says that I do good work. Although my boss told me yesterday to design a logo with a light bulb on it. It´s embarrassing for me that I´ve spent more than 2 days designing a logo without success. Can you please help me out?

>>2263470 I think it's pretty bad. The dark saturate blue doesn't look good and especially in printing the black and blue will become very similar I suspect. The light emanating looks like a snowflake and not like light. The bottom screw part can be simplified more, right now it looks like a photo filter or something with those little wobbles and shapes in it.
