I don't think so. I think that depends entirely on your skill level, subject and if you already have a fanbase. If I do fanart or portrait from photos I can probably get more likes than with stuff I really enjoy doing, even knowing that what I enjoy is better, but I don't have a fanbase yet. And I think this is the same for every artist out there probably.

For example, what you think will get more attention: Wes Burt drawing fanart from Marvel, Start Wars, etc or hes original stuff?

Seems obvious, but when doing realism (faces for example) there is very rarely a solid "line" to be found. Things are distinguished by their shadows, or by background & foreground. You don't draw the nose per se, you instead define it by shading the contours. The shadows can be very dense and thus give the appearance of an edge, but usually it's still a very compact gradient from light to dark.

I swear the computer lab in high school must have wondered where all their paper went... I used to steal it by the stack for drawing, never could have enough. Finally had to buy bankers boxes to start storing it all properly since I have boxes and boxes of old art.
