The term 'art' used to be something positive. Everything is considered "art" now, so the term has lost its value. Art is seen as a joke now. Calling yourself an "artist" will no longer garner any semblance of respect. The average well-adjusted person will look down on you because they assume you're an immature bum or some retarded drugged up hippy, though I suppose that's usually the case.

Well said. But to be fair, it's society that abandoned art first, so we kind of had it coming. I would still give artists themselves 50% of the fault because they were to quick to stop believing and sticking for their beliefs.
