I just wanted to steer any like-minded individuals away from going to art school. I applied this summer after taking two years off after highschool and ive decided to drop out a half semester in. Im sure many of you could benefit in some way or another from it, but me personally? i enjoy spending time on this site more and feel as though i can actually receive more helpful advice sometimes. I got really out of shape, started drinking heavily, and lost track of my inspiration. The resources available are great for testing out to see if you want to invest time or money into any of them in the future but unless youre comfortable with jamming all of your artwork into someone elses time sensitive course then its hard to really explore using any of them. The library for instance was only open until 6 pm at the latest. Im not saying art school is a bad idea for anyone else besides me and if youre looking to go into a career in the art field its probably a good idea idk i just wanted to get better at painting, but i learned that i could basically learn the same amount from independently studying without all of the jumping through hoops in between. All im saying i guess is it just made me an unhappy person, and i dont want to be unhappy for the rest of my life which may ironically happen inevitably from not having a college degree, or maybe I would have been unhappy from not being able to pay back student loans. Maybe its just what your made out of and life really is just your choice as long as youre strong enough to deal with the consequences of your decisions. I sure hope so. Not sure if theres a point to this thread i just wanted to say whats up to you guys since they block this site in my dorm:/
