>>2258689>Saki clearly has technical skill, it might not be the best in the industry but there's plenty of skill there.Well then she's not really all that great.
>the fact she can sell her art to so many people and that its so popular means that she is able to market it and convince people that her illustrations/artworks are subjectively good and appealing.Note than none of this has anything to do with the act of illustrating, which I maintain she's quite bad at. This goes back to what I said - a good businessman, not necessarily a great illustrator.
This is all, all about business, and my argument is that when people say the phrase 'great illustrator," they mean someone who is good at illustrating. Even by your own admission she's not at the top of her class, so what are you arguing? Even if we account for both financial success and skill at the craft, she still falls short of the greats. Ayami Kojima, posted above, is not only a financial success but far, far more skilled. Kojima's work is on a level so much higher than Sakimichan's that it's not funny.
>In saki's case a large part of it is the anime style + skill at rendering, and these combined makes her art appealing to many people and thus make her a good artist.I never said she wasn't a good artist. I did say I think she's not really a good illustrator, but that's because her work isn't really illustrative.
>After a certain point technical skill isn't important as long as you keep above that point, and saki is far beyond that point.I really could not disagree more. Sakimichan's work relies heavily on what technical skill she has, and is pretty devoid of creativity or inventiveness or even illustrative ability. He's another pretty boy/girl fanarts, thanks for the money guys! I know a lot of people find this infuriating, but I just find it boring. Her work as whole is just boring, it's all very much the same. Her work is all technically competent, well rendered fanart, but there's nothing more to it.
