Yes, materials don't make the artist and it's personal preference.

I've been using leadholders since I can remember, and I can't remember the last time I even used a wooden pencil.

I'm tired of sharpening every minute and I'm considering ditching everything and get a good mechanical pencil. I do linework and ink over it, what's the point of having a tapered point if you don't need to build up tone with the side of the pencil?

Does anybody here use a leadholder or wooden pencil with an actual reason to back up their choice other than habit?
