>>2262394ok, now this is all just my understanding of concept art, so take it or leave it.
if she wants to do concept art for a job, this is also shit she needs to get use to.
first, work digitally so you can make the itterations fast, you are never going to make perfection the first go
second, never render out the piece until its closer to done.
third, if you have an agreed human form, use that as a base model and copy paste it, and draw various clothing over the top
when someone asks you for concepts, you put down just enough info till you can agree on something, than go forward with it.
if you want the advice to solely be on how to approach them on making itterations, just be prepared to make that person rage quit, unless they make art a job, they likely have no fucking clue that they get next to no say in what they are doing their job is making the clients happy.
have a meeting with everyone, go over what you like and what you could have changed, and have the artist either take notes, or make little scribbles while this is going on so you can confirm or deny them.
quick itterations are better than fully rendered pieces so long as the point comes across.
>>2262536no they dont, those are rare cases. they hire concept artists because they are able to take other people's concepts and make them into a living breathing world, if you dont like something, they likely already have 10-20 other designs waiting for you to look over and see what you like, when you give them further input they refine what you want.
and again to my understanding, they higher them not because of creativity itself, but versatility, can you do western, if i said add some steampunk do you know what that means? there is a space ship, i want it to look aggressive without the color red, the good guys color is red. that is what they have to work with, their input can be valued but the client being happy is whats more important.
