There are a small minority of retards who talk like valleys or surfers but the overwhelming majority of people in new mexico, arizona, nevada, utah, idado, washington, oregon and california all speak the same. With a basically monotonous way of speech which specifically lacks that 'sway' which a texan or a north easterner or a british or australian will by default have.

I can see where the confusion might come from when I use the word 'american', but I feel like you should get what I mean anyway. Maybe you're just ignorant of america, ever thought of that?
When I first came here it was one of the first things I noticed, that people here spoke without something which I was so used to hearing I didn't really even register that it existed.
Again I'm not talking about the way they pronounce certain phonemes but the underlying sway, the lack thereof, in their general pronunciation. It's just absent.
