Outside of London that would be about £300 a month at most. In London it would vary massively depending on where in London, but nothing like the amount you're claiming.

I lived in the UK for five years and the housing was probably the best quality I've come across. High ceilings, red brick, large and strong window frames, oak flooring. You pay more for space, but there's about 70 million of them on a small island.

Its in Harringey mate, just north of the City of London. Its got no stamp duty and a roof terrace (apparently) and getting a mortgage that low is well within many London workers reach. It would have been snapped up becuase it gives someone a foot on the ladder, once you have a mortgage getting a bigger one is easier, its the getting one and finding a place that you can afford in the first instance is hard.

Don't know about Sao Paulo, but isnt Rio surrounded by hills? That limits the available space a bit.

As for the location, it's pretty much the world capital atm. Which might explain why there's more demand to live there than bumfuck nowhere, Canada.

yes. A pocket of flatlands is all they get. Back when everyone was poor except the elite and the city was still in its colonial form, The government decided to break on cramped up places and widen the streets because of public health. Then, all those poor people (the only ones affected, of course) went to the hills and started building. Thus, the favela was born. In the 60s the northeastern people would get to the city and have nowhere else to settle too.

Tbqh all of brazil is pockets of useful land surrounded by uninhospitable jungles and hills. So there's this reason why housing is expensive and infrastructure is so taxing on the inflation.

Memes aside, the UK is a pretty good place to live. The main problems are that house prices are absolutely insane in some parts of the country (London and parts of the south east, where some towns' average house prices are now £1m+).

We also have a bit of a problem (again, mainly in London) of too many people living in too small spaces, but most of the time it's because those are foreigners or very low income people trying to save money.

Houses are usually pretty good quality, just overall a bit too expensive.

One time when in the US I was staying with my gf in her friend's place, which I suppose was average for American standards, but it was just one guy and his dog living there and the house had rooms which had no apparent function. And you had really large rooms with just a few things in them. It took ages to do anything in the kitchen because e.g. the bin was on the other side of this huge room.

It makes me feel uncomfortable that's all. Space should be utilised. But whatever.

This is definitely unsettling. In my London flat with other people living in close proximity and full knowledge of how everything in my flat works, I feel in control and secure. If there happens to be a strange noise I can rationalise it to the neighbours doing something. In a place like that house, sometimes you'll *never* be able to hunt down what's causing the noise.

Also in countries where houses are more spaced apart there's more unsavoury wildlife around, and you can hear it at times which removes part of any comfy you're able to generate. Whereas in countries like the UK only the cute animals have survived.

it's cheap as shit to buy a house in the UK if you buy a house in uni regions you are practically guaranteed to have tenants every year.

One 3-4k square feet house in our prime area can afford 2 pic related; London houses are nothing compared to the prices we are facing.
