Though Japan was also making normal porcelain, Japanese people found those "eroded" and asymmetrical ones attractive (Wabi-Sabi culture) partly because those tended to have an accidental color and shape, and thus you could have only one piece. Preferring a humble style is one of characteristics of Japanese culture.
