The pension system will explode in Europe in 10-15 years, when people born in the baby boom of the 60's and 70's retire, and there will be more pensionists than ever. How are people going to deal with it? Are people even aware of it?

do what we did, raise the retirement age, and make superannuation (saving & investing part of your income for retirement) mandatory.

doesn't wipe the problem completely but it makes it a heck of a lot more manageable.

People here (at least in Spain) don't save money for their retirement (a pension plan, or whatever the name is), they just wait and expect that they will get public money for their pension, they just can't think on the long run
