So there is an optional mission on call of duty where you can shoot Russian civilians in an airport.

In the German and Japanese version of the game, you fail the mission if you kill someone. Why?

Not really tbh, at least not in our version. As long as you don't shoot your teammates you can do whatever the fuck you want before leaving the airport building.

In the Japanese version, it will actually fail if you kill someone because if you kill civilians on that mission, you can't deny war crimes

I was under the impression you had to shoot, but you didn't have to shoot the civilians. You could shoot over their heads or around them. But not shooting would have you teammates gun you down.
