Low wealth not necessarily because people rent over buying houses, after all, If you're renting somebody still owns that property, the total wealth and mean average (Affects median greatly) is unchanged whether people buy or rent
Australia's is so high because of forced private retirement funds (Worth $80,000 US per adult, and that's only been a thing for 20 years so a lot of old people don't have much/any at all) , high house ownership rate and high house prices.
