Riffians for some reason always had very hostile relations with Jews, and Jews were associated with every bad trait you could imagine(including the standard stereotypes). I think the only worse insult than being called an Arab is being called a Jew, and this predates Israel-Palestine stuff.
But other Berbers in Morocco had pretty good relations with them, and Jews who were born in the Atlas are still nostalgic about it.
I don't even know how far jew-hatred goes, but I bet much of it isn't even related to Islam.
