Many of them are low-life scum, but most of them aren't criminal tbh
We are one of the safest countries on this planet, way safer than the US, so there's really no need to be scared.
But I'd still advice you to stay out of the ghetto neighborhoods with high Muslim immigrant rates, especially at night.
Or yeah, just go to the smaller cities, where there aren't many Muslims at all. Smaller cities also tend to show a much truer Germany architecture-wise.
