I tend to be too romantic so foreigners are way easier in comparison, they take it as something cute instead of pathetic.
On the bright side, I've had gorgeous girls chasing me out of nowhere. It's suprising at first, you're not very sure they're serious or playing tricks on you.
Better not overthink it and go for it. Worst case scenario they backpedal but often you'll get them after several days/drinks.
