I would like to live in Germany one day
I am white and Australian and I'm learning the language, I will not move until I can speak almost fluent German

What are your learning methods? I recommend duolingo + memrise as resources. The gamified learning technique really helped me get started. Assimil/Michel Thomas works really well for listening comprehension.

It's good that you've got friends so you can text chat with them/skype with them so that you can get some experience learning sentence structure and formation.

I've found that once you start to be able to read basic texts with the aid of a dictionary, listen to music/radio and watch shows in the language the exposure really makes you learn a lot faster.

Getting started is the hardest tbh.

I use duolingo have German newspaper/radio apps have 10 or so text books, a tonn of German movies and I keep my pc phone and PlayStation's language as German, I've done this foe about 3 years now. Plus yes talking with Germans helps so much. I don't think I'll ever get rid of my ozzie accent though.
