While fighting there, they also gave Britain the logistical support it needed in supplies and loans to survive, then with British help liberated western europe from the Nazis, and MORE IMPORTANTLY, stopped the Red Army from sweeping across the entire continent. You think Stalin would have stopped in Berlin if there was no D-Day and no western allies in France, Italy, West Germany? No, western europe would have all gone commie.
Then after the war, the USA pumped TRILLIONS of dollars into western europe to help rebuild, help it stay capitalist.
