I'm just playing with the ancient stuff. We used to be bulgarians and some important kings were from here, also bulgarians invented cyrillic here in ohrid. But macedonia was the last occupied ottoman territory so the free states around us wanted to expand and absorb the place, at the time it was populated by agricultural peasants. Our revolutionaries either promoted us joining bulgaria or macedonism, and we became a part of serbia (when the bulgarian army lost), then yugoslavia. We kept the macedonism part and the average citizen here feels no connection to bulgaria as a society although there are some patriots.
The dispute with greece is falsely labeled a "naming dispute" so people assume it's about a name when it's really about historical heritage. I only accept it staying as it is (macedonia) and most of the world got used to it, and I'd totally renounce everything hellenic-related. Unfortunately it's not likely to happen, both countries are nationalistic.
